Styling Out of my Comfort Zone

While staring at my closet trying to brainstorm what I wanted to write this blog post about, I quickly realized I actually didn’t want to style anything in my own closet! Instead, I wanted to wear things completely out of my comfort zone. I enlisted my friend Tabitha (aka our amazing photo shoot photographer) for this blog post. I absolutely love Tabitha’s style. It’s edgy, trendy, and chic. I loved wearing some of Tabitha’s favorite looks and I hope this inspires you to try styling pieces out of your comfort zone!

Turtle Necks and Graphic Tees

The first outfit Tabitha styled me in incorporated the turtle neck and graphic tee trend. I was beyond excited to shoot pictures in this outfit. I absolutely love this trend but have never invested in my own graphic tee. After wearing this outfit, I have to add one to my closet. I love how Tabitha added an extra print to the outfit with a cheetah print turtle neck. It paired so nicely with the monochromatic charcoal grey “Queen” graphic tee and definitely gave the outfit an edgier vibe. I also love how comfortable this trend is. A graphic tee and turtle neck allows you to look cute, stylish and comfortable for online school. It’s also so affordable! Tabitha ordered the turtle neck off Amazon and bought the graphic tee from American Eagle (you could also easily thrift a graphic tee.)

Sweater Vests and Collared Shirts

I was so excited to finally be able to try out the sweater vest trend. I also loved that the sweater was brown! I almost never reach for that color and thought it made the outfit even more different for me. The brown sweater vest was from Pacsun and the collared shirt was from Walmart. I loved how this outfit turned out. It was classy but also very on trend and aesthetic. The brown paired with the white collared shirt made the whole outfit pop. I honestly didn’t realize how gorgeous brown looks and will definitely be looking to add more of the color to my closet. I enjoyed all of the textures in the outfit from the cable knit sweater to the rough jean denim. I also paired this outfit with some classic black slip on vans.

A Slip Dress Moment

Despite being so out of my comfort zone, I felt incredibly confident in this outfit. I was so happy when Tabitha asked to style this piece. I’ve been seeing slip dresses all over Pinterest and VSCO. They are incredibly classy, flattering, and versatile. I also fell in love with the cheetah print. It was a slightly different take on your staple black slip dress . You honestly can’t go wrong with cheetah print and I love the comeback it’s made in the past year. Tabitha paired the Forever 21 slip dress with an Aeropostle jean jacket and some trendy shades from Amazon. The glasses and jean jacket were the perfect touch to finish off this look. This outfit was so fun to take pictures in and I cannot wait to see how Tabitha styles it on herself in the future.

I hope you all loved this blog post as much as I did. If nothing else, I hope it encourages you to try things out of your comfort zone! Try adding some new and different pieces to your wardrobe, especially with us all going back to school soon (we finally have reasons to not wear lounge wear anymore!)

Talk to you all soon!

Xoxo,

Elizabeth
