Gilmore Girls was a hit TV show from the early 2000’s about mother and daughter Lorelia and Rory Gilmore. In 2016 a reboot: Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life was a huge hit that surprised fans. The fashion from the very start of the 2000’s was shining bright in this show and is coming back 21 years later. Here are some of the most iconic outfits from Gilmore Girls and how I recreated them with items in my closet.

Rory and Lorelei Gilmore posing in Luke’s Diner with the famous Chilton uniform on Rory and a casual but stylish top on Lorelei.

I paired my green tank top with white stripes from Kohl’s with a super cute and comfortable jean jacket from Target. Adorable ripped jeans from American Eagle completed my Lorelei Gilmore inspired look.

Lorelai wears a tie dye shirt and jean shorts with cowgirl boots on Rory’s first day of school in Season 1 Episode 2. Lorelia’s mother, Emily Gilmore, thinks that the outfit is a disgrace and that she should've put herself together better. Though it was laundry day and Lorelei was running down the steps looking like she was ready for a rodeo, I was happy to find that I could put together this Lorelai inspired outfit from my closet.

I paired my white and black tie dye shirt from Victoria Secret PINK, with jean shorts from Aeropostale, and my favorite pair of cowgirl boots.

Rory and Lorelai wore stylish dresses to the Stars Hollow dance competition in Season 3 Episode 7. Rory wore a vintage inspired red polka-pot dress and Lorelai wore a vintage dark blue dress. Polka dot dresses might seem like a 90’s trend but Old Navy has polka dot dresses that are a fresh awakening for polka dots to come back in 2021.

I paired my dark blue polka dot dress with my favorite espadrilles from DSW that I like to call my “sandal high heels.” I love this outfit because it is out of my comfort zone but something new that I see myself wearing a lot more.

Rory styled an adorable faded white sweater with jeans and went to the Dragonfly Inn after school for Michael to proofread her English paper in Season 1 Episode 1.

I paired a faded white sweater from American Eagle with ripped jeans from American Eagle and Timberland's match Rory’s outfit.

Rory wore an elegant blue off the shoulder dress with a beautiful necklace and her hairdo up in a princess looking bun for a ball with Dean in Season 2 Episode 6.

I wore a black off the shoulder dress from JC Penny’s with a necklace from (Salon by Walmart) with my favorite black espadrilles from DSW.

Lorelei styles a professional looking white long sleeve shirt with cross strings in the front and black jeans.

I styled a short sleeve white t-shirt with cross strings from American Eagle in the front with black jeans from American Eagle and my Timberland's from DSW.
If you get the chance to watch Gilmore Girls you will not be disappointed. The show has some valuable life lessons, adorable outfits, and a great story. Lorelei and Rory make a great team stealing each others clothes and telling each other everything. If you haven’t watched Gilmore Girls already, I 100% recommend watching this show and soon you’ll be obsessing over the show like me and finding clothes in your closet that make you say “this is so Gilmore Girls!”
