Welcome to the Linganore High School Fashion Club Blog! Linganore High is located in Maryland 45 minutes outside of DC in the middle of a cornfield... yes, we are THAT school. Home of the Linganore Lancers, the state winning sports teams, honor roll students, musicals, and many proud alumni. Our school used to have a fashion merchandising class that is no longer available for students to take. I decided to recruit one of my favorite teachers, forced my friends to sign up, and here we are. My love for fashion started at a young age, I would dress up and make my parents take pictures of me in sassy poses, I attended camps to learn to sew and I was constantly was drawing outfits for models in notebooks. Once I opened signups for the fashion club I was overwhelmed by the love and support I received from my peers. Every time I checked the folder for returned signup sheets there were always more and more! Maeve was one of the first people to sign up and I was so excited! I knew Maeve’s name and I had seen her around but I was so proud my club was attracting people that weren’t my best friends whom I made sign up! Maeve has been one of the most supportive people with the fashion club and I can genuinely say I could not run the Fashion Club without her or our teacher advisor Ms. Troxel. Our school newspaper wrote an article about the Fashion Club before the club began and it felt so cool to have something that was mine, and people were genuinely excited. As COVID-19 hit us like a brick a week before our spring fashion show I am so thankful for the work we have been able to accomplish through our social media presence. Even before COVID hit we had a Chipolte fundraiser that was so successful it would have been able to cover the costs of the fashion show! Since March when we got out of school we were doing styling posts, members who were interested would collectively pick an article of clothing (jean jacket, graphic tee, etc.) and would style that item to be shared on our Instagram! With hopes, we will make it back to school sometime this upcoming school year I’m excited to grow our club wether we have online or in-person school. This blog is our new baby and I’m so happy Maeve has organized this blog and is way better at this technology thing than I am! I am so excited to see where this new journey takes us, expect to see tips, meeting our members, thrifting, hauls, and lots of Linganore spirit! Xoxo Carolina
